There are currently 343 Division I basketball programs, with a few more (including North Dakota and South Dakota) joining the RPI ranks this season.

Multiple-choice trivia. ... of those 343 programs, how many have appeared in the NCAA Tournament since 2000?

A. 149 (roughly 43%)
B. 159 (46%)
C. 189 (55%)
D. 209 (61%)
E. 229 (67%)

For a bonus point, arguably, what is the most prominent program not to appear in the NCAA Tournament since 2000?

Is this a direct shot at Northwestern?..haha

I'm going with B.

And for extra credit: St. John's?

I'll say 'A' and the bonus question has me stumped.

My guess is Rutgers. They were pretty good in the 60's and 70's and I can't even remember the last time they were in the tourney.

Answer

The answer is "D" (209, 61%). 74 of those 209 have been 1-hit wonders.

Bonus point?

St. John's has played in two NCAA Tournaments (2000, 2002) since 2000.

Rutgers is an excellent choice, one of the 2 or 3 I was thinking of, but I went with Oregon State. This once-proud program has 16 NCAA Tournament appearances to its credit but none since 1990.
