University of Minnesota men's basketball and football players are improving when it comes to graduating from college, according to the NCAA's graduation success rates released Wednesday.

But the football team still ranks second to last in the Big Ten.

According to numbers released by the NCAA, 90 percent of men's basketball players who entered the university from 2005-08 graduated within six years, sixth in the Big Ten.

Only 69 percent of football players in that same period met that standard, ranking 13th out of 14 conference schools.

The Gophers' overall graduation success rate (GSR) of 88 percent is two points higher than last year's rate and 21 points higher than the U's first GSR when the NCAA began releasing the data in 2005.
