What are the columns on the plaza?

I just drove by the stadium and behind the large scoreboard there are 8 or so columns spaced evenly apart. They are fairly wide and tall. There are lights pointed up at the bottom so they will be lit up at night? Does anyone know what these are?
The stadium and the whole area looks great. I still wish there was signage on the outside listing all of the national championships.

I don't know about the columns. From my work I know there are 11 Federally-recognized Indian Bands in Minnesota. There are some additional political subdivisions, but they do not have full Federal status.
