per Marcus (great to see he's in really good shape now!):

Ahmad Gilbert was usually the one left out when Gophers coach Richard Pitino mentioned the freshmen who appeared ready to contribute this season.

But all of that changed after practice officially started earlier this month.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Philadelphia native is proving he could be in the rotation this season, along with fellow freshmen Kevin Dorsey, Jordan Murphy and Dupree McBrayer.

“He can shoot the ball,” Pitino said Thursday at Big Ten Media Day. “He’s gotten himself into really good shape. He wasn’t in real good shape when he came here. Just because like most high school kids, that’s the way it works. He’s gotten quicker. He needs to continue that. He’s got great confidence, which I love. And he’s got shot-making ability. So I think once he really tries to grasp our system he’ll flourish.”

Go Gophers!!

I'm hoping he can elevate his game and be a nice surprise for this team.
