Pretty slow lately, but I'm getting more and more pumped for the season, so I thought I'd get opinions/thoughts on our young stable of D linemen. Jacobs, Kirksey, and Edwards played sparingly last year, but contributed, DL Wilhite, Terrell Combs I believe played but Wilhite ended up Redshirting.

Who's the big breakout guy? I'm talking about impact, not just reps, TFL, sacks, starts, meaningful big plays.

I'm going with Wilhite, he's a sleeper type with great speed, I think he could end up being a pass rush specialist for us.

Jacobs looks like he is #1 on the depth chart which will give him the best chance to break out. That being said, as rush end Wilhite is in a better position to make plays but his opportunity depends on the play of Cedric McKinley and whether he becomes a dominant DE. Edwards & Kirksey are very talented young DT's and I expect Edwards to have a breakout year but DT's generally fly a little more under the radar and cause havoc while letting LB's get most of the glory unless they really dominate.

My pick is Jacobs.

I expect big things from Jewhan Edwards this year, so I guess I'm going with Edwards, but I'm really hoping we see a huge year from one of the seniors on the ends - Onwuachi or McKinley. That said, I'd gladly take a huge year from Jacobs, Combs or Wilhite.

The sleeper pick, though he showed flashes last year, might be Barrett Moen.

I think Jacobs has a chance to be almost as good as Willie, but when it's all said and done, I think the leaders on D this year will be the veteran guys up the middle: Brown, Small, Campbell and Royston.

Although he's not a "young" guy, I pick Henderson. Expected big things last year that got derailed by illness, so I expect a healthy Henderson to have a big year!

I was impressed with what I saw from Edwards last year. I think he'll be an unsung guy who really clogs the middle but doesn't get any of the glory. That's alright with me. We need more of those guys.
