I have the week off and watched Sports Center for the first time in ages yesterday and only made it twenty minutes today. Just brutal.

Yesterday was 10 Minutes of Red Sox/Yankees highlights, Phillies highlights and then another 10 about the AL East then McNair, Fererer, Tiger, and Celtics.

Today 10 minutes on why the Mets are terrible this year and on the side a bunch junk highlights showing on the side bar.

I remember when it was mostly highlights and the coverage was balanced. I don't care that much about the Megalopolis that spans from Philadelphia to Boston or pop culture icons Lebron, Farve, Kobe, Shaq, Tom Brady, and Manny. I'd like to see ESPN regionalize the coverage and put us in a Chicago based region. Cover Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Minneapolis like they do the Atlantic States.

SportsCenter is unwatchable. I haven't watched an entire show in years and rarely turn it on at all, and when I do I get turned off by it after a few minutes.

The regional format is too costly to produce as the Fox affiliate attempts showed. Our best opportunity was the failed CNNSI 24 hour show a number of years back as it presented competition, but the mothership in Bristol just wore them down. It's a failed dream that ESPN would tone it down. They won't have me as a viewer, but they don't need me as they're doing just fine despite alienating people like you and me.

Go Gophers!!

I like the LA broadcast at night. I don't watch it all the time, but I do tend to watch most nights. It has changed. Times changed. The one constant is people complain about change.

The Eastern Sports Promotion Network sucks...and it doesn't care.

The Eastern Bias is bad, but the dumbed-down, tabloid fascination with Kobe, Lebron, Farve, Brady, Manny, and A-Rod has little to do with sports and is worse.

Could you imagine the coverage Mauer's Batting Average or Pujols' HR/RBIs would generate if they played in those markets. We would see all 4 of Mauer's at bats on highlights everyday if he was a Met. Now you only see them if he's playing the Yankees or Red Sox.

Don't feel too snubbed because Chris Mortensen will be looking for a condo in MPLS after he's done in Mankato so we can have 24 hour coverage of Farve.
