View Full Version : Bachmann vows to break law, refuse to respond to census
playhosea!

I don't know how I missed this on Wednesday, but Michele Bachmann announced that her family will not be completing the 2010 census and that instead "the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home." Bachmann is apparently afraid that ACORN will be involved in the census and that the questions are "very intricate, very personal."
So is this pro-America or anti-America?

This is pro-American. According to an article I saw - she is not breaking the law. The only information you are required to fill in is the # of people in the home.
Unfortunately the Obama administration decided to put the Census in the hands of White House political hack Rahm Emmanuel instead of having the commerce department retain full control. That is the anti- American part of this story. In fact the counting of the Census behond closed dorrs in the White House is a bit Iranian.
By the way- this is a great move by Bachmann becasue this brings some national attention to a deal that the White House was trying to slip through the back door with an assist from the fawning media. There is a lot at stake here in terms of federal funding based on census reuslts.

If she gets a short form the only other information they ask is:
Age, Race, Sex, and if you own or rent.
Not exactly "personal" information. The long form has many more questions, but those are mostly used for research. The population information is what's used to set political districts. Obviously redistricting causes all kinds of political bellyaching, so this is obviously nothing more than the R's being upset that they aren't in charge during the Census. If they were in charge, the D's would be complaining about the same thing. This is a non-story IMO.

If Rahm is a hack you are an Obie socialist.

Bachmann would likely answer the short form as such...
Age: None of your business,
Race: North Metro White Bread
Sex: Missionary only
Own or rent: What do you think

Is this a fact? The census was taken away from the Dept of Commerce? It's hard to believe we'd take the census out of Government controlled hands and give it to a private group like ACORN. Was there a problem with the previous census'?

It was an honest question. Anyone have an honest answer?

Costa,
Obama politicized the next census a couple of months ago, by executive order, I believe. He removed it from Commerce and placed it under Rahm Emanuel, sleaze bag extraordinaire. Our pro-Obama press barely mentioned it, so it's no wonder you didn't catch it.

G4: If Rahm is a sleaze bag extraordinaire then you are a former unrepentant amateur terrorist. Oops, sorry Rahm.

Has the census always been under Dept of Commerce? Why would Obama "fix it" if it wasn't broken? If he did it to simply to redistribute zones and win future elections then I think I'll pass on the census and advise everyone I know to as well. Conversely, if there's a legitimate reason to change the census because it was not working correctly and injecting a politically divisive person like Emanuel was the solution I'd like to hear it. I'm trying to look at this as unbiased as possible. Right now, from the bit I've researched I see someone I don't like. He reminds me of Carl Rove and I'm wondering if it's possible the census was taken away from the Dept of Commerce for political reasons? Someone starighten this mess out and explain that this isn't true.

Costa,
You seem to have it figured correctly. Screw the rules. Put the right people in place to achieve the desired results regardless of chicanery. This wasn't the first time or the last time we'll see this strategy from the messiah. He's also trying to use his own White House figures rather than impartial ones to sell his health care plan. He smiles as he lies, and America is still buying it.

A ringing endorsement from the right wing's answer to maroonfive. Another proud moment for Michelle, I'm sure.
