i know tikited is a beer snob--anybody else? with the weather getting colder i have been thinking about a nice barleywine, so today i got a sixer of victory "old horrizontal", which i have never had before but am looking forward to.

anyone else had a good barleywine to recomend? or a good brewer?

I've been drinking the Red Hook Winter Seasonal which is pretty good. Otherwise, Pete's Wicked Winter Ale is always good.

My other favorite that comes along in the winter is Sam Adam Winter White. It's really just a knock off of Hoegaarden but I'm a big fan of Belgian White's (and I mean real Belgian White's not Blue Moon type rip offs).

I had a beer called, Harvest Ale, the other day. It was called a vegetable beer and it was awesome. No idea where, or if, you can buy it in stores. Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery in Minneapolis..

Not sure if I qualify as a "beer snob" -- maybe a "beer slob" and/or just a "snob" in general -- but I'd highly recommend Delirium Noel. A bit pricey ($8/nine ounce "snifter") ... higher alcohol content (10%) ... served on tap at Groveland Tap (on St Clair just a half block west of Fairview). I just had two after the CDH-St Thomas b'ball game and it sure was tasty. Highly recommended!

For at home, I enjoy the seasonal "Celebration" from Sierra Nevada. Festive labeling and it takes the edge off holiday stress. It's what we were pouring last night with my famous Jambalaya. Yum - great icy cold beer and hot, hot spicy jambalaya.
