Sure seems like everything's pointing that way:

Interesting.
I keep hearing negative things about Delmon. Sure is alot of smoke, you'd think there'd be some fire there somewhere. It's too bad, there does seem to be alot of talent there.
I'm not all that sold of Span though. I think he was playing a little over his head, certainly his stats fell off to be solid but not spectacular as the season wore on. But still you've got to ask if Span isn't leading off, who is? We don't have any great answers to that.
If my magic wand was working I'd bring in a LO infielder and move span, giving Delmon another year to grow up. It seems to better match our needs, although far from perfect. We would have better right hand hitters in the lineup, giving us better balance.
But we do need to pare down the OF and given tha lack of LO Delmon may be the best choice to move.

I think the Twins would very much like to trade Young though I'm afraid they won't be offered much for him. Having said that I think he will still around. Move Span to left which is twice as big as RF in the dome and Cuddyer's arm back in RF. Now that would be a defesive outfield.
Don't forget the bullpen.

This is as tough an issue as there is for the Twins. Of all teams, they've been bit more than any other by giving up on young players too early in their careers. (If fact, they're trying to bring one back right now.) That said, it's easy for us fans to say they should keep Delmon and let him grow up and develop. But if you put yourself in the shoes of Gardy and the coaches, and imagine your frustrations with a player who's reportedly uncoachable and a drag on the clubhouse, and it doesn't seem farfetched that they might consider it to be addition by subtraction. A coach just doesn't need those headaches.

If we are stuck with Young (stuck is the appropriate term as he is a negative in every way) we have to DH him. If they really feel Cuddy can still play this game, they have to put the best players in the field and Young is the worst outfielder we have by a long shot.
I'm 100% down on Young. The guy is not a gamer-he simply doesn't seem to care. That notion is backed up by Tampa letting him go so soon. Trade him for anything at this point, but I doubt they will.

You are exactly right. A couple weeks ago on the sports show mike max made the comment that it's so bad that gardy refuses to play him in any day games. Have to read between the lines on that one.
