"Italian basketball is great," he said. "It's one of the top leagues in Europe. A lot of the top guys who have made a name for themselves in Europe have played in there at some point. Manu Ginobili played in Italy for a couple years before he went to the NBA. I played at a high level and was able to show teams that my knee is OK and I can produce like I did (with the Gophers). It was a great experience."
"If I have a good showing, I think I have a good chance of getting invited to an NBA training camp or sign a contract for next year," he said. "I was hearing from some other teams, but I thought the Lakers seemed like the best fit because of the roster space. They don't have many big guys like me."
