I believe this will be only Clem's second time returning to The Barn.

Go Gophers!!

How fun - the Barn should be rocking tonight. Let's hope they help the team to a much needed victory as well.

It will be interesting to see how much (if any) the BTN shows the members of the 89 team and of course Clem. My hope is that they lead with it, but let's see.

Coffey may have had more heart than any Gopher player in my lifetime. That guy just wanted the rebound more than the other team.

I'd be willing to bet a C note that Barreiro goes on a huge rant about how horrible it is that the crowd cheered for Haskins on the radio either tomorrow morning or on Monday.

Burrito and Co need to get over it. A very small % of big time college coaches have clean hands. It's life.

I agree, college sports is all about winning, and that is what Haskins did. Yes he cheated, but it's not like it was point shaving. Bottom line Clem did what was necessary to win, and that's all we can ask for as fans

Except that the program was essentially destroyed for at lease a few years afterwards.

I would do Richard Coffey's homework if he would come back for this season. He would be a perfect fit for this team.

Yeah, but if it weren't for Clem Minnesota basketball would have never been on the map. I could take a few bad years after your team makes the final four.

No one is condoning what happened. The point is to get over it and move on. Clem was here 14 years. Many good things happened in that time and we don't have to pretend they didn't.

Is the "12" in your name your actual age or an indication of your emotional and intellectual development. Really hard to tell.

We got caught. We deserved to be punished. I still love Clem. If Pitino left and Clem wanted to coach here again, I would be happy.

Let me put it this way: my sister played DI soccer. On occasion she and her teammates had the chance to interact with other teams, on several of those occasions the other teams were surprised to hear that my sister and her teammates had to do their own homework.

It. Happens. Everywhere. We. Got. Caught.

It may not be right, but it is what it is.

Great coach.

Was awesome seeing him at the barn last night.

I hear a Dpo coming
He's coming round the bend

He will cut and paste the usual stuff, and he makes important points. The counterpoint to all that is that sports is about competition. When some programs cheat and get away with it, some programs are called out on it and some programs are kept clean, that's not competition. It's part of the reason the college sports are tilted so heavily toward programs that get away with all sorts of things and are never seriously investigated. If anyone truly believes that the NCAA seriously looks at all credible allegations of wrongdoing, they're incredibly naive.

No kidding. The North Carolina situation is completely ridiculous, as they have multiple professors on record as witnessing massive cheating - and an entire department that basically was helping the bb players stay eligible - and yet they play on and will almost certainly continue to play on.

We don't need to condone the cheating that led to the Final Four to celebrate the legitimate 89 team.

Its only cheating if you get caught...and we got caught. But to act as if we had an unfair advantage during that time because our academic advisers were doing the work instead of teaching the work is a bit naive.
