Minnesota is expected to host four official visitors, including two commitments this weekend. The Golden Gophers have 11 commitments to date and are hoping to add nine to eleven other players this season.

Connor Mayes, a 6-foot-5 320-pound center from Van Alstyne, is the younger brother of current freshman Alex. He committed to Minnesota in June, but has received plenty of interest from schools such as Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas Tech and Texas A&M.

Mayes will wear #65 to honor his best friend Beaux Borel, who lost his battle with cancer when they were in the 8th grade, at the U.S. Army All-American Game next month.

Steven Richardson, a 5-foot-11 285-pound defensive tackle from Chicago (IL) Mt. Carmel, helped lead the Caravan to their second straight Illinois state title as they defeated Lake Zurich 30-0.

The Caravan, who won Class 8A last season, have 12 titles overall, including 11 under coach Frank Lenti. The program has won state titles in Class 5A, 6A, 7A and 8A.

Mount Carmel (13-1) allowed 96 this season and gave up just 3 yards on the ground and 11 passing after halftime.

Richardson committed to Minnesota in April.

Martavius Mims, a 6-foot-2, 183-pounder from Muscle Shoals (AL) High, will make his first official visit this weekend. He plans to visit Western Kentucky January 10th and could plan a trip to Navy.

Mims led the Trojans to a 13-2 mark, losing to Spanish Fort 35-14 in the Class 5A title game.

Craig James, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback, lead Edwardsville to a 12-1 mark, losing to Mt. Carmel in the Illinois Class 7A semifinals 34-7. He had 301 yards rushing with three touchdowns as a running back and 27 tackles and three interceptions.

James has previously visited Indiana and Kansas.

James was a first-team All-Metro selection as a junior after he finished with 23 tackles, six interceptions and recovered two fumbles. He scored three of his six total touchdowns on returns; two on kickoff returns and one on an interception return, as the Tigers went 10-2 and advanced to the Illinois Class 7A quarterfinals.

James is an outstanding track and field athlete who helped lead the Tigers to the Class 3A title in the 4 x 800 meter relay and third place in 4 x 400 relay. He also starred individually in the 300 intermediate hurdles and 100 meter dash.
