Off hand I can only think of two - Marcus Sherels and Carl Eller. I am sure there are more. Only those that played in regular season games. It seems most with NFL careers played elsewhere. I was thinking of Doug Kingsrider but not sure if he was a Gopher.

"John Campell 1063-1964"

Wow, Campbell had a long career!!! :)

They redshirted him for 900 years. He had a great day for the Gophs in their 21-3 victory over UCLA in our last
Rose Bowl appearance. He was out of Wadena, Mn.

Didn't Brock Lesnar have a short stint with the Vikings as a UDFA (at least in camp)? Thought he was tried out as a DE.

He trained with William the Conqueror and then unwittingly discovered America before either the Vikings or Christopher Columbus. Was a top-notch lacrosse player before Murray Warmath got him interested in football. Was especially valuable in tutoring fellow players in their medieval history classes.

Bemidji has an expansion team in the Indoor Football League starting later this winter. Maybe it's a step below the Arena League, but it's above the semi-pro level. I'm planning on making a road trip up there to see a game. I wonder if there will be any Gophers on the roster. It's fairly easy to keep track of Gophers who make it to the NFL, but it's easy to lose track of those that play minor league football.

Yea, he was part of the advanced scout team for William The Conqueror three years earlier.

Tackle Greg Murtha was technically a Viking for one year (1981), however he was on injured reserve the entire season. (But I believe he still made it into the official Vikings team photo.)

And while he did not play a down for the Vikings, I would consider Bud Grant at least an "honorable mention" for this list. Outside of perhaps Eller, he has had the greatest impact on the Vikings of any Golden Gopher.

Better get to the opener. Teams in that league last about a month.
