View Full Version : Franken wins
A sad day in my view. However, I think it is time for Coleman to concede, say congratulations and move on. The court has ruled, further appeals are not likely to help.

"vs. Bush", and even HRC did "vs. Obama", when faced with a political TKO - think of the greater good, realize that your <1% chance of "winning" would be a Pyrrhic victory at best, say "No mas, no mas" - and walk away a gracious loser.
His cornermen need to keep him from answering the bell for the next round.

While being happy that Franken won since that's how i voted. norm had been my favorite minnesota politician until this. He's lost my respect during this process. i have a feeling his political career is over. Now I'll need a new fave. I kinda like Amy, I always enjoy listening to her interviews and what not, i'll go with her.

Coleman will appeal this decision ad infinitum (actually, ad nauseum for many, I suspect)
If Coleman concedes and doesn't appeal, his political career is put on hold for 4+ years and he loses the last bastion of his support: conservatives. (I don't think he'd stand a chance against Klobuchar; a run for Governor would be a long-shot and going to the House would be unlikely.)
Frankly, I think conservatives are reluctantly supporting him now because they have (and had) no alternative. He moved too far to the center in an attempt to win re-election and that'll cost him if he concedes and tries to get renominated when the seat comes up for election five years from now.

Stop crying stalinists. You were all for the great pretender (ALGORE) to continue his endless lawsuits and counting; What's the difference here? I really don't care, al will be a one term senator anyhow.

As always, follow the money. If Norm is still able to raise money to fund the process, he will take it to the Supreme Court. Also, T-Paw won't sign the election certificate because it could hurt him with the conservatives he needs to win the 2012 nomination. I expect the dems to start banging the drums loudly now that Al has won all of the recounts and court cases.

The U.S. Supreme Court will let the Minnesota Supreme Court's decision stand because all of the bases will be covered. Minnesota is not Florida.
Norm is just following the instructions of his Republican masters by stringing this out as long as he has. Good riddance to him. Amy and Al will occupy the Minnesota Senate seats for as long as they want. It the Republicans couldn't beat Al this time around they won't have a prayer when he runs for reelection. Al is not Mark Dayton.

I hope he proves me wrong, because I couldn't vote for him.

Is this a kinder, gentler beej? You said something nice about Obama in an earlier thread and now you acknowledge that Al won. Is everything OK?

Who's crying? The better person won. Norm lost me when he was the Mayor of Saint Paul.. See ya Norm!

At this point, Norm will do what is best for Norm. It appears that he is broke personally and he has about a 1% chance of getting his senate gig back. I would expect that we will next see him as a K street lobbyist. He needs a job.
Congrats to Norm Coleman as your political epitaph will note that you lost to Jesse "The Body" Ventura and Stuart Smalley. Nothing can sum up the impact of a politician better than the TV characters one loses to. You can't even make that up.

tikited,
>>The better person won.<<
But that's not saying much.
Won't we ever tire of being forced to elect the lesser of two evils?

Never thought of that...what an embarrassment. Maybe Coleman will move on to some non-political value now. But hey, at least the loons on the left have their diaper wearing moron to cheer-on finally! lol
