Well done by President Obama and the Navy! A good thing for America. We will be attacked further as a result - but it was the right thing to do.

I agree that it was the right thing to do, but Obama had very little to do with it. This was a military operation and the military deserves the credit. Likewise, if it had failed the military would have deserved the criticism. Jimmy Carter got a bum rap for the failure to rescue the Iranian hostages. The U.S. Military was totally unprepared to carry out that type of operation. Whoever said that our military leaders are always preparing to fight the last war was right on the money. That started to change with Rumsfeld, and Defense Secretary Gates is continuing the effort to convince the general staff that WWII-style warfare is a thing of the past.

This I'm not sure on, but doesn't this approval go through the administration? Or does our military have the authority to make these kind of decisions under the protect our seas type mentality?

Pres. Obama gave the Military the go-ahead, and let them handle it. The Military would not be able to act unless their Commander in Chief gave the ok. The thing Pres. O did was said....Go, and you, the military are the experts.

Tactical, stealthy, small, intelligence-based strike forces to take out small factional/radical/desparate enemies.

The old Patton-esque tank and multi-Army unit broad battlefield wars are less and less likely.

Bravo Navy Seals !

It was a beautiful thing. Being as how it's about the money I'm not sure we'll have to worry about retribution. It seems they were doing just fine before they made the mistake of targeting a US ship.
