Shooter: Gophers' take from BTN is $24 million; Jim Delany says Pitino a "good hire"

Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany, who visited Minnesota on Thursday as part of a conference tour he's making, said the league was able to distribute about $24 million to each of its 12 schools this year resulting from the Big Ten Network.

"It's been very good for each of the schools," Delany said.

"I think it's a good hire," Delany said of Pitino. "Obviously, he comes from an incredible basketball family -- lots of experience as an assistant coach and a head coach. And (he) probably has a pretty good view of how to recruit nationally as well.

"So I think it's exciting to see young people get an opportunity."
