The Big Ten is arguably the best basketball conference in the nation, but one thing that really gets us is the absence of four excellent coaches from Twitter: Wisconsin's Bo Ryan, Michigan State's Tom Izzo, Ohio State's Thad Matta and Iowa's Fran McCaffery. Tragic, really.
But of the seven Big Ten coaches who are active on Twitter (Matt Painter, no soup for you), the smallest following is 11,000. Four coaches have followings exceeding 20,000. The largest, predictably, belongs to Indiana's Tom Crean. He's also given people reason to follow him, with over 6,700 tweets. But he's not our No. 1.
5. Richard Pitino, Minnesota. Has embraced being a new Minnesotan, and that's key to garnering fan support there.
