Gophers in Lourawls "Tum Tum" Nairn's Final 3 - Decision coming Thursday at 10 AM

Thought this news deserved its own thread:

Great news. I love me some TUM TUM!!

Get 'er done Pitino!!

Yeah we've been posting about him all day in the all things 2014 thread, but it's probably about time he had his own thread.

Kid is so quick and so strong... It's insane to think he's only been playing basketball seriously for 6 years. His spin move to the left & finish with the right is DEADLY

I'm glad he's visiting us for the UNLV game. Campus should be alive those days and the weather should be great.

Hopefully his hosts get him over to the State Fair as well!

If he decides to come to Minnesota, he'll be 20 before he even plays a game for us. Which is a good thing because he will be more physically mature than most Freshmen.

If he does wind up visiting Minnesota that's a great sign. Would think there's a decent chance he commits to Oklahoma before then.

In sales you want to be the last one making a pitch, so that's why Indiana and Crean make me nervous. I hope Coach P and staff bring it that weekend and blow Tum Tum away. ABC...always be closing.

The pep band should start studying up on Lou Rawls' greatest hits. I'm guessing most of 'em have never heard of him.

Sounds like his best friend is at Oklahoma, but Minnesota can (and should) lay claim to the greatest Bahamian basketball player of all time.

Was thinking the same thing, Jason. Is it within NCAA rules for Mychal Thompson to put a bug in Tum Tum's ear?

lourawls is probably the fastest player in the nation, and maybe the strongest guard in the nation

247 is now showing an Indiana offer for Tum Tum. Not sure if that's accurate or not. Also, two guys have predicted Nairn to Oklahoma, and one predicts the U.

Correct, Lourawls doesn't hold an offer from Indiana yet.

Nairn is definitely fast, and for a 165/170 pounder, he's very strong. Great in the open court and has the ability to be an excellent on-ball defender despite his size because of his quick hands.

Are you sure about that? Ryan James has reported that he does have an offer from Indiana and, with all due respect, he is typically correct when it comes to everything Gophers recruiting.

I defer to others regarding the official restrictions on an ex-player's involvement, but I sure hope they point out the retired jersey hanging from the rafters when Tum Tum enters The Barn for the first time. Showing him some highlight footage of Mychal wouldn't hurt either.

I'm wrong.

As of two weeks ago, Nairn didn't hold an Indiana offer, and as of this morning, his 247 and Rivals profiles didn't show an IU offer.

For anyone wondering about a late Kansas offer to Tum Tum in which he'd add them to his list (and replace Minn, Ind, or Kl, I'd say that's a guaranteed negative / no chance. If Jones or Mudiay don't commit, McLaughlin is their 3rd option. Tum Tum will not be getting a Kansas offer - especially since it has been reported that McLaughlin loves Kansas right now and will be at the Phog for late Night on October 4.

I can see it now

Yes, his nickname is from the movie "3 Ninjas". Also, he says playing right away is important to him, so I like our chances in that area compared to Indiana since they already have Yogi. Not sure what Oklahoma's PG situation is for next year.

But does he love candy as much as the real Tum Tum?

Also, if he comes here, I will be sreaming thigs like ,"Ninja drops a dime!" and "He ninja'd right through the lane"

also, he and anyone else who rain threes are the 3-ninjas.

Just sayin. :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

What we need to do is get Lourawls knuckles deep in some Minnesota 'tang while he is up here! That might close t he deal! :cool02:

“I think just because of the way they came about it,” Nairn said. “Ever since they saw me, I’ve been in contact with them just about every day, coach [Richard] Pitino and assistant coach [Ben] Johnson. It was just consistent. And I felt like they were supposed to be there. It’s all of the assistant coaches, and not even everything about basketball – just random stuff, how am I doing, how was my day, stuff like that.”

I think he will commit. Seems like a solid recruit! Go Richie

It would be nice to get a commitment pretty soon. Something tangible to build on. Hoping Perkins isn't the start of a trend. Being in the hunt for 3-star + players is nice n' everything, but in the end a miss is a miss.
