He's an emerging voice in the party. I listened to his press conf. this morning and liked what I heard. It will be interesting if he starts to get more and more leadership.

Ryan dreams of a nation called America, not this left-swinging socialist state Obama and friends are determined to create.

Republicans are quick to point out that Obama's stimulus package is unsustainable, but nobody seems to be listening. Are we all aware that Obama is proposing to create as much debt as all presidents from George Washington to George W created? Or maybe we don't care because Obama just feels so darn good.

Ronald Reagan didn't care about deficits or debt. George H.W. Bush didn't care about debt. George W. Bush didn't care about debt. But now, with a Democratic president, Republicans decide they are worried about debt.

How special.

I look forward to him working with the members toward a solution versus the posturing/peacocking that the current minority is doing.

Gopher4Life, I hope you are capable of understanding this. Reagan, Bush, and Bush Jr. made defict spending and running up the National Debt a primary policy of their administrations.

U.S. NATIONAL DEBT

1980 - 930 Billion - 33.3% of GDP
1990 - 3.23 Trillion - 55.9% of GDP
2000 - 5.67 Trillion - 58.0% of GDP
2005 - 7.93 Trillion - 64.6% of GDP
2007 - 9.01 Trillion - 65.5% of GDP
2008 - 10.7 Trillion - 74.6% of GDP (EST)

In the 28 years since Reagan became president the National Debt has increased from 930 Billion to 10. 7 Trillion, and as a per centage of GDP it has increased from 33% to 75%. Republican Presidents where in control for 20 of those 28 years. If you were not criticizing the economic policies of Reagan, Bush, and Bush Jr. you have absolutely know standing and credibility to be criticizilng what Obama has done in his first two month in office. If that is the case you really should not be posting on this subject. Your knee jerk Republican biases are readily apparent to everybody, and nobody with a brain is going to pay attention to you.

To all Obama apologists, it's the outrageous size of Obama's proposed debt that I criticized, not debt itself.

"I hope you are capable of understanding this," UpNorth.

By the way, I hate both of these major parties, so don't rant about GOP bias. I'm unashamedly conservative and I make no bones about that.

Hey all! I feel very strongly both ways about both of the Major Political Parties. I, Dr.Don, am an expert on everything, therefore I suggest that we cancel the Coleman/Franken Senate debacle and ask GopherLady to intervene and be our Senator from the Great State of Minnesota. What say GL???????????? :-)

Knee jerk? Take a look at the facts. Look at the long term structure of Obama's proposals. This is not a little up-tick in debt- this is collossal:(see the attachment in this post)

It would seem to me that this wisky politician is a stinking badger, and I don't trust anything a stinking badger has to say. They had an anti-commie guy named McCarthy...Joe McCarthy..."McCarthyism: ...if your mommy is a commie then you've got to turn her in..." that's what a wisky politician will do. The dude served in the Senate from 1947 to 1957 when he died. But, he would have made old Rush and Hannity proud. In fact, I sometimes think they have patterened themselves after that old Joe McCarthy monster that created one of the coldest cold war environments. He was a stinking badger through and through. He was a pretty scary monster too. Beware stinking badger politicians.
