Clash of the Classes

This looks pretty cool. Wish I lived closer to the Cities so I could go.

Wow! What a foursome, Jones, Vaughn, Travis, and Macura to bomb threes. I love Jarvis Johnson and Henry E., but that will be a load for that team to handle.

What a great idea! I hope this becomes a regular event that attracts all the area's top talent. Perhaps the Big 3 will get a taste for playing together and realize they could create something amazing. Even if they don't, this should be fun to watch! (Does anyone know if they've done this in past years?)

Too bad no Inkinen... He and Henery would have been a load for Reid & '14 to handel.

Looking forward to seeing Coffey.

It should be a lot of fun. In terms of players everybody in this state is playing except for Alex. He was of course invited but will be busy.

Can't recruits only play in two all-star games? I would think Tyus/Rashad would rather play in the McDonald's/Jordan games.

Don't think that is a rule.

4.6 HIGH-SCHOOL ALL-STAR GAMES, EFFECTS ON ELIGIBILITY
A student-athlete shall be denied the first year of intercollegiate athletics competition if, following completion of high-school eligibility in the student-athlete's sport and prior to the student-athlete's high-school graduation, the student-athlete competes in more than two all-star football contests or two all-star basketball contests. (See Bylaw 30.2.1.1 for definition of high-school all-star contest.)

I am guessing that an event like this one wouldn't necessarily count as one of the two all-star contests. If that was so, then one of the 2017 kids would be ineligible for a senior all-star game before the start their sophomore year of high school (if they played two consecutive years).

Aaron Gordon played in at least 3.

Per the bolded text, that limit appears to only apply to the period between the end of a player's senior season and the player's graduation.

Those bylaw numbers you cited are ancient and outdated. While the numbers are far different now, the language is similar or the same... but, the key is "following completion of high school eligibility in the student-athlete's sport"... all the players competing have remaining high school eligibility. The oldest kids competing are rising seniors.

At any rate the games are an excellent idea. Should be fun for the kids and fans of basketball.

I will be attending this event and blogging about it for my site. It dose look very interesting.

I already bought my ticket. Sad to say, but this will most likley be the only chance I will ever have to see the Big 3 on the same team. Maybe this will be the event that makes tham relize staying home is their best option. Gophers fans lets show them some love tonight with some chants and see if we can influnce them to stay.

thought i heard some players starting to bail on this. is reid travis backing out? jarvis? any others?

I heard that on the Ryan James podcast too. I heard that Jarvis and Henry backed out, which would be too bad. Didn't hear that about Reid though.

My son, who is a huge gopher fan, has a baseball game and isn't able to go tonight, can some gopherholers get a few pictures for me to show him?

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]At halftime in a very fast pace good game the score at half time was class of 2014 60 and class of 2015 43.

Jones 5 points at halftime

Vaughn 10 points at halftime

Reid Travis 15 points. at halftime.

The play of the big three

I thought that the play of Tyus Jones, Reid Travis and Rashad Vaughn was really good. Vaughn came up with some nice plays and had some really nice dunks. I thought that they all felt comfortable playing with each other on the floor. They all complemented each other on the floor.

Nice dunks? I'd call those some great dunks. A 360. A between the legs. And Rashad throwing down a left handed tomahawk on 2 defenders.
