Nike EYBL Event this weekend.

I'm curious, too. Howard Pulley (Tyus, Reid, Jarvis), Milwaukee Playground Elite (Vaughn, Cohen) and Mac Irvin (Okafor) are all playing. Which games would be the best to attend? How early do you have to arrive to get a seat?

i went to the EYBL last year, i will go this year, probably on saturday, i watched a full length mac irvin flame game(the team that jabari parker and jahlil okafor play for) and a full leghtn howard pulley game, i watched a few other teams for short periods of time, i was actually in a hoop mixtape of tyus on youtube after going to it, a tip i have for you for at least howard pulley and maybe wisconsin playground elite, get there early, it was super packed for howard pulley games and i was fortunate to get a good spot, im kind of mad about last year becuase i watched a full legth jabari parker game but only 5 minutes of andrew wiggins and the CIA Bounce becuase at the time jabari was the next big thing, if i would have know that wiggins was that much better then jabari then i would have watched a full leghth game, this year i plan on watching the mac irvin fire, howard pulley, wisconsin playground elite, the oakland soldiers(2015 #1 ivan rabbs's team, also the best team in the EYBL) and also maybe emanuel mudiay and some other 2014 stars

Seating for this EYBL event should be a little better than the one last year, as they won't have to have one end of the gym blocked off for college coaches. That said, the Pulley games will still be packed, likely the Playground Elite games as well. The EYBL events are certainly the top end AAU events on the circuit right now.

when i watched jabari parker and jahlil i sat next to their parents in that section, the mac irvin parents like to get into it, i remember them saying "man, jahlil neva awake for the first half!" also the parents got into an argument with the parents on the other team and i was right between it, "man, he cant play, he got blood on his shorts!" the one parent yelled to the refs "yeah, he be a warrior!" yelled the other parnets, good times, the best team name is the D.C. assault, the dad's of the players actually look like they would assault you

Haha sounds like it was a experience! I'm definitely going to watch pulley and playground elite. Pretty excited sounds like alot of good players .

Oakland Soldiers actually aren't that good this year... but Rabb is legit. Real deal 100%. Love watching him play.

Stanley Johnson is back for them and is good.. but Jabari Bird & Aaron Gordon were also on last year's team during their Peach Jam run. Gordon gets overshadowed by the 'big names' in the 2013 class, but he is SENSATIONAL.

Wiggins and Jabari

Jabari is the more skilled player and probably the better player currently. Wiggins has way more athleticism and a higher ceiling which has the NBA drooling. There is a difference between who is a better player currently and who projects to be the best in the "one on one" or pick and roll NBA platform.

tyus is currently better then andrew wiggins right now too, andrew wiggins was only tenth in the EYBL last year in scoring and wasnt top 10 in anyother statistical categories while tyus was 5th in scoring and 1st in assists and that was last year, this year he is third i think and 1st in assists and tied for 5th in steals this year, at least last time i checked

Team takeover of the D.C. area is the best team this year, they don't have any stars but a lot of good players, one guy is going to Georgetown I think on that team

What do they charge for admission for an EYBL event?

Last year I got in for $5 at the Saturday session. Whether prices have stayed the same or gone up, I'm not sure. Well Werth the money though. Heck, maybe you'll even gather up the courage to talk to a coach or two if your feeling adventurous!

you'll see some of the biggest, tallest moms in americaat the EYBL

Haha, hey JB! Yeah, I remember sitting next to Kennedy Meeks mom last year, and she made the whole bleachers shake when her son scored! All jokes aside, a nice lady to get to know.
(And I'll try to get Karl to go on Saturday also. He was mentioning that he was intending to go. Umm, also I'll check in and see if Swanny is going)

Unless you're credentialed to do so, really shouldn't go up to coaches in the gym at these events. The event operators have to maintain separate seating / standing areas for D-I coaches and try to keep the general public away from them..

However! Unlike last year's EYBL session at HPA, this weekend is not an evaluation weekend open to coaches. Therefore, you won't see all the D-I coaches at the gym like you did last year.

You won't see any of the D-1 coaches this weekend. They call it a "dead period" for a reason. During other tournaments when the coaches are there in a common area, there's no NCAA rule against saying hi.

i.e., you're working for the event operator

Makes sense, if your selling hotdogs or buddies with the Pulley crew, then you have the right to talk to a coach.

So what I think GW is saying is guys like GameDay & AO54 aren't special like him and should not say hello to a coach.

I always just identify myself as a senior member of Gopherhole. Coach Crean overheard me at one event and insisted I sit by him.

Whether youre allowed to "within every nook and cranny of the NCAA rule book" I do not know.
I do know however that I had a nice conversation with Scott Drew of Baylor and James Johnson of Virginia Tech last year, and both are incredibly kind, down to earth people, who have a sense of humor and can laugh at themselves! It was awesome to talk with them.

After your awkward conversation, I hope the coaches were quick to notify the nearest bouncers to have you quickly escorted out of the gym. can't be fraternizing with the common folk.

Right on! They couldn't possibly be caught dead talking to one of us "muggles", it would do severe damage to their rep.

Gameplay, you still texting Jahlil okafor?

Save it until Saturday. I can hook you, Max, Peter, Karl, etc. up with a personal meet and greet and a few autographs on Saturday evening out in the cafeteria lobby area. I saw how wide eyed you all got last year when he towered over you guys.

I'll text him tonight and set it up...

its amazing to think that a kid as ordinary as jake wright had to guard andrew wiggins and jabari parker last year
