View Full Version : Solid Vikings win last night

That game had pretty much everything a Vikes fan could want: big defensive stops, exciting offensive plays, turnovers, a strong running game, some calf roping by Allen and a huge win over a division rival.

Now we have to hope that the NFL doesn't come down with suspensions for the Williams boys - I thought I heard that we'll finally hear something on Tuesday.

It was nice to hear Madden gush about the Vikes.

Did they play last night? You couldn't tell by the newspapers. Gosh, what are they...6-5? What a juggernaut this team is with two drug influenced tackles leading the way and a DE who relishes cheap shots. Yup, the Minnesota Vikings a pillar of the community.....

It was a very good game. They could be pretty darn good by the playoffs, if the big boys don't get themselves suspended.

ruppert,

There are more serious drug issues to worry about than what these two Vikings stumbled into.

And there was a serious cheap shot last night by the Bears that wasn't even whistled.

OK, I'm one of the bigger Vikings rubes around but that "cheap shot" on Frerotte was a complete flop on his part. He barely got touched and he flopped to the ground and pretended to be motionless. He bounced right up after he didn't get the penalty and had one of his better games as a Viking. I'm not say it shouldn't been a penalty, but Frerotte might get nominated for an Academy Award for that Dino Ciccarelli impersonation...

If it was good enough to impress Madden, it does deserve an award.

It makes you wonder how good this team could be now and in the next couple years if the coaching staff hadn't went "all in" with Jackson as the QB of the future. This season we start with Jackson (beyond awful) and went 0-2 to Frerotte (below average) and we're 7-3. We could be 9-3 right now with an average QB, and maybe even better if we actually had a good NFL QB.

If Childress makes a run for McNabb in free agency, I may shoot people...

I thought this was one of the funnier moments of the game. Going into a commercial break later in the game, Al said something along the lines of, "Frerotte, who earlier looked like he could have been out for the game, even out for the season, leads the Vikings to a touchdown drive." I don't remember what he said exactly, but he definitely said he looked like he could have been "out for the season". Way to milk it for what its worth, Al.

The 4 down stand was really impressive. AP looked great. Was anyone else jumping out of their chairs before Berrian reached th end zone on the 99 yarder screaming "That ties Tony Dorsett's 99 yard rush in the METRODOME in 1983 on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!!!? Good game.

As I watched Gus Frerotte I kept thinking "What's Jeff George doing right now?". Man could we be something with a QB.

When it's all said and done we do still have a QB problem. Imagine what we'd look like with a decent QB and maybe one more decent reciever.

We've quietly gotten pretty healthy on D. Too bad about the Mike spot.

I still dream about what if #4 was wearing purple.

About the Mike, on Sunday the Vikings used the nickel as their base defense. I think you will see that a lot the rest of the season.
