Chip Scoggins facilities column: Nebraska is shiny carrot in Gophers facilities race

Every problem is an opportunity. Having waited this long is a chance to know what we're up against and do them one better.

Nebraska proves elite facilities don't bring elite recruits
I don't think a single person has actually made the claim that elite facilities do bring elite recruits, just that it helps to not being giving up something to an opponent in the recruiting game when it's really not necessary.

Nebraska proves elite facilities don't bring elite recruits

Considering they have had the practice facility for less than a year and a new coach even less than that, cannot make that claim yet. They never had elite basketball facilities before. The elite football facilities they have has for years has brought elite recruits for that sport.

Well put. Not a Husker fan, but I agree with your statement.

You can't compare Nebraska Football and Basketball. You just can't.

Elite facilities will help, but you can't deny the lack of talent coming up through the Nebraska high school ranks. Who's the last player from a Nebraska high school to score a point in the NBA? Erick Strickland?

Overcoming a lack of history, national brand in basketball and local talent is a tall task for any coach. Facilities are only part of the equation.
