Gopher Baseball ranked #25

Go Gophers!

Nice to see....not sure we will ever see the Gophers return to the College WS...but striving for that would be nice.

I hope to see another win tonight.

From the standings article:
"Minnesota moved into the rankings at No. 25 thanks to a pair of wins at Texas Christian. This marks the Gophers' first appearance in the rankings since May 20, 2001."

College World Series

Gophers do have a very realistic chance to make the CWS next year, if Anerson is able to keep his players from going to the pro's early. It is a hard thing to do but you have to sell your kids on the philosphy, if they stay, something special might happen next year. If Anderson can keep things together this team would definetly be a top 25 team.

The Sweep of Dallas Baptist was huge in keeping us in the top 25 for the second straight week!

Yeah, it's nice to see them back in the top 25. With wins over UCSB and TCU they deserve it so far.

I'm hoping to have some good baseball coverage this season on my Gopher blog. I had a recent sit down with AJ Pettersen earlier, if anyone is interested. http://cynicalsympathy.wordpress.com

Baseball America Top 25

Guess the wins over the weekend impressed some people....

Nice to see the Gophers stay in this poll. The polls in college baseball overall are terrible. I am not trying to take away anything from the Gophers, but there are 6 polls in college baseball. There are major conflicts from poll to poll, Georgia for example is 1, 1, 1, 6, 3, 5 in the 6 polls. Minnesota is only ranked in 1 of the polls and receiving votes in 2 others. My point is don't put too much emphasis on college baseball polls. The future is looking good for the Gopher baseball team.

CWS

If the Gophers are ever going to make a Cinderella run to Omaha, this would be the year. After years of hemming & hawing on a trip to Omaha, some buddies & I finally made the plunge and will be attending the first weekend. Looking forward to some outdoor baseball. Hoping there will be a Northern school there to root for.

Your going to have a blast. The CWS is a one of a kind experience. The city of Omaha puts on a good show. There is nothing like going to an outdoor game, drinking way to much beer and eating great food. Have a good time. I'll be down there as well.

Let me know when you are going to be at the CWS. I usually go to 3-4 games each year. What a truely special event. It has been a lot of fun at Rosenblatt over the years, decent ticket prices, parking and so on. The new stadium will be awesome, but tickets are going to sky rocket and the good seats will be held by corporate entities. Now thw same people have had the same tickets for 20-30 years. I have had acces to tickets just above the third base dugout in a parents section. Always a great time to sit with LSU or Tulane or North Carolina parents. Enjoy the experience and let me know when you are in town and we can have a cool one at Zesto's.
