Confirmed: American will be Gophers' season opener (Nov. 9)

American U's men's basketball web site confirms what Sid reported a month or so ago. ... the Gophers' season opener will be vs. American on Nov. 9 @ Williams Arena.

Still trying to track down the Gophers' remaining 2 (or 3) nonconference home games. As others have mentioned we'll know the Battle 4 Atlantis quarterfinal opponent sometime today. Perhaps we'll also find out if and/or who the Gophers will have as a "preliminary" B4A opponent?

Is this preliminary game a Gopher home game or would it likely be on the road / neutral site? Would it be against one of the teams in the tournament? Basically, could we by any chance see Duke at the barn?

1. It would be a home game, or at worst a neutral-site game @ Target Center/Xcel.

2. From the sounds of it, probably not. Memphis & UNI both are playing B4A home games vs. opponents not in the 8-team bracket.

3. Highly, highly unlikely. I'd say slim and none, and Slim has left the building.
