Rank the Big Ten Coaches

On the broadcasts today the announcers mentioned that the depth of coaching talent in the league this year is as deep as it has ever been. So, I thought it would be interesting to have some discussion.

1. Rank the coaches, 1-11, based on job performance this year (with the team they have, and recruits for next year)

2. Rank the coaches in overall coaching ability (in your opinion)

3. Top 5 coaches you love to hate in the league

4. 1 coach you wouldn't mind having on your team and why

1.1. Izzo (conference champs)
2. Weber (great cohesive team)
3. Painter (good season after beginning struggles)
4. Tubby (good recruiting class
5. DeChellis (consistently underachieving team now on the bubble)
6. Carmody (who thought they were a middle of the pack team?)
7. Ryan (poor start and poor recruiting class, yet still a 4 seed in the btt)
8. Beilein (impressive wins over Duke and UCLA, but a loss to Iowa?)
9. Matta (cornjerker)
10. Lickliter (cant' keep his players eligible)
11. Crean (we knew they would suck, but not that badly)

Love to hate: 1. Crean
2. Ryan
3. Weber
4. Matta
5. Izzo

Who I would love to coach my program (other than Tubby)?

Painter, because of his ability to develop talented freshman (at least so far with Hummel and Johnson) and to turn around a bad start to a season.

My top five:

I voted for Izzo, but I am very nervous about Indiana's future. I think Crean is going to turn that program around quickly. I think the future is bright for all of the Big 10 -- except for Northwestern. Then again when they started I had high expectations for Monson, Alford and Amaker, so what the he!! do I know!

Looks like an Izzo lovefest 'round here.
