When I was a subscriber to SI, Faces in the Crowd was the first thing I went to.
 

I haven't read an SI in so long, I forgot what that section was. Good for him!
 

People only buy it for the swimsuit issue now.
 



Very cool. With that kind of high jump, he deserved it.
 

Wow. I knew he was an athlete, but not that athletic. That's really cool. Looking forward more and more to seeing him play in a couple years.

I have an old issue with Earl Campbell as a high school player as one of the "Faces in the Crowd" He said he just wants to play football to buy his mom a house. Massively cool.

And when I was in a buddy's wedding, he gave each of his groomsmen a vintage issue of SI that might mean something to them. I got a 1986 Jack Nicklaus Masters version. Makes me want to dig it up and see who the "faces" are.

That type of "hunt and gather" seems to have been lost.

I could go on, but I'm sure I'm boring anyone who has read this far.
