Look for the Gophers' John Anderson, who holds the all-time record for Big Ten baseball coaching victories (485), to soon sign a five-year contract extension.

Anderson, who turns 57 next month, is in his 35th season at Minnesota, 31 as head coach. His current salary is $162,000. Anderson has worked mostly on one-year contracts.

The Gophers are 16-13 this season, 3-0 in the Big Ten.

Go Gophers!!

If there's a coach that deserves a lifetime contract at the U, it's Anderson. Can't wait to see that man get the opportunity to take his squad into their shiny new stadium.

After working for the past decade under a series of one-year contracts, Gophers baseball coach John Anderson has a new level of job security. The Gophers athletic department announced on Tuesday that Anderson has agreed to an extension that will keep him under contract through the 2016 season.

Go Gophers!!

Congrats 14! Great coach and leader, better person. I know he was never in danger of losing his job, but it is still great to hear that he has some security. I wish they could lock up all the assistants and give them some nice pay raises. I don' think we would ever see T.O. or Fornasiere go anywhere else, but it would be nice to see them get a nice long contract with the University as well. 14 gets the headlines (for obvious reasons), but his assistants really deserve an equal share of the credit.
