Immediate eligibility for transfers under consideration by the NCAA

I'd rather see the NCAA go the other direction: 1. eliminate freshman eligibility. 2. require that scholarships be awarded to an individual for five years. 3. if a scholarship holder leaves the program early, the remainder of his scholarship must be awarded to a deserving student non-athlete.

1. eliminate freshman eligibility.

Maybe in football, but no, that would not be well-received by athletes in any sport.

2. require that scholarships be awarded to an individual for five years. 3. if a scholarship holder leaves the program early, the remainder of his scholarship must be awarded to a deserving student non-athlete.

Punish the program because someone wants to transfer? Um, no.

What would be fair is that when a coach leaves a program, he has to sit out for a year too.
