The most dominating players (one offensive and one defensive) that you personally witnessed wearing the maroon and gold football uniform.

My selections:

Defense - Bobby Bell (Tom Brown is a close second)

Offense - Darrel Thompson (Chris Darkins is a close second. Imagine the duo running
behind Eslinger, Setterstrom, Brinkhaus, Spaeth, etc.)

The Gopher athlete I'd would like to have seen in a football uniform: Dave Winfield. (He would
have made an excellent TE and/or DE. I had the good fortune of
watching him on the hardwoods and the baseball diamond at the U.
Size, speed and athleticism.)

Darkins was a stud in college. The 95 game against Purdue was still one of the best games I have ever seen from one player. His ankle issues prevented him from putting up monster numbers.

Offense - Darrell Thompson, no doubt. He looks like he could still kick a** of most current players.

Defense - Tyrone Carter. I was never lucky enough to personally see Bobby Bell myself.
