Mods: There is nothing wrong with this post and it is in support of U of M athletics (including Williams Arena and the basketball teams as the alcohol sales issue doesn't just impact TCF Stadium and the football team), so please don't delete it.
We Gopher sports fans and supporters of the U of M should reach out to our Republican MN State senators as soon as possible this morning and tell them to elect Sen. Geoff Michel (R) Edina as the new Majority Leader of the Minnesota State Senate. They will be voting this morning, so email or call them a.s.a.p. and let them know you support Sen. Geoff Michel of Edina.
Sen. Michel (R) Edina is a friend of the U of M and a friend of Golden Gopher sports when it comes to allowing self-autonomy and reinstituting local governance to the U of M Regents on the alcohol sales question at TCF Stadium, Williams Arena and Mariucci Arena.
Senator Geoff Michel has publicly supported in session allowing the U of M Regents to make all decisions when it comes to selling or not selling alcohol in premium seating at U of M on-campus sports facilities. Senator Geoff Michel fully understands and has said outright that the state legislature should not be involved in telling the U of M Regents how to manage alcohol on their campus, and he also thinks it is wrong that the state legislature is costing the U of M athletic department millions of dollars a year in lost revenue and premium seating sales opportunities.
Email and/or call your Republican MN state senators today and tell them you support Geoff Michel (R) Edina as the new MN Senate Majority leader and that you support the U of M.
