Thom Wynn: Gophers Beat Mavericks, Break Friday Night Drought

It certainly wasn't pretty, but ugly wins count for the same amount of points as the pretty ones....two. The Minnesota Gophers got their two points, and finally broke out of a Friday night slide this evening with a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota State Mavericks in front of 9,542 at Mariucci Arena. The game, which is the first in a long home stand for the Gophers that goes until the early part of January, certainly lacked polish. But Minnesota gutted this one out by playing physical, and doing just enough to win.

I was at the Saturday win. Again it wasn't pretty. We sat in the box way too often. But a win is a win. Crowd was good despite the snow. Beer at stubs and herbs and then sallys was awesome too!
