I don't feel like I am in a box. Reasons not to like Michele Bachmann (even if you are a Republican):
1. Called for an investigation into the patriotism of Members of Congress (can you say Joe McCarthy)
2. Doesn't believe Evolution should be taught in the schools (give me a break).
3. Said that Barack Obama is Anti-American (there is that Joe McCarthy thing again)
4. Signed a "No New Taxes Pledge" (Barack is going to make the Top 2% pay their fair share)
5. Supports banning on-line poker (she wants to control our lives just like her fellow right wingers)
6. Opposes not only gay marriage, but also civil unions for gay couples (speaks for itself)
7. Belongs to a church that is part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod which teaches that the Roman Catholic Pope is the Anti-Christ (since I am Catholic I think I might be damned to hell for supporting her)

Just quoting for reference on how to count to two.
Let's see that is one, two, and .... another two. There you have it folks. I wonder why they say the intellectuals are liberal..hrmmm.

I think that is the same box you are in. That is if you are saying that if you hate Ms. Bachmann, you have to hate Mr. Franken. If you like Ms. Bachmann, you have to like Mr. Franken. The premise being that the two are exactly alike, right?
Correct me if I am wrong here.

As to your point on evolution: It's my guess that she has really said that she wants it taught as theory (which it is) not fact (which it is not). The idea is that you would teach the class also the arguments against it without entering into religion. I think a little questioning with regards to evolution would be good. If it were true it would stand the test.

it has always been taught as theory. the prevailing theory and the only one with sufficient backing. You're more concerned for the alternative fairly tale that doesn't get equal time.

I'm going to guess that if it was taught in Texas as theory (and people have a lot of not so great opinions of education in the south), that it was taught in MN as theory where the education system is rated very high.
Can one of the resident teachers that bounce around here confirm that they don't teach it as something besides theory in MN?

1. Evolution, and 2. Relativity, gain more credence and are further substantiated - not debunked or weakened - as more and more tests, observations, and experimental data come in.
Some of my "the-earth-is-6,500-years-old" co-workers really struggle with the weight of all this and overwhelming preponderance of the evidence.
Theory or no theory.

I'm curious: when does disagreement become "hate?"
I disagree with Bachmann on a host of issues but don't hate her. bga used the same technique when he claimed that folks who disagreed with Bush "hated" him.
Is the conservative movement as a whole unable to distinguish between disagreement and hatred? Or is it just the conservatives on this board?

I agree that only the immature equate disagreement with hatred.
On the other hand, I have more respect for a person whose hatred devolves from intense disagreement than for a person who disagrees primarily because of his hatred.
