View Full Version : Washington/Obama oblivious to the masses and the market

Stocks down 225 points today in anticipation of Washington/Obama's work to stimulate the economy. I have seen upwards to 70% of Americans give a thumbs down to the plan, a plan than has not been read and studied by all members of Congress. WTF?

Yet Obama will sign the bill and who knows what will happen after that. Strange that he waits four days to sign it after preaching for months how vital it is to act NOW! And after Obama's insistance on pressing the panic button, I am sure those that followed the Pied Piper will be thrilled to learn they will get a whopping $13 month tax savings down the road and lessened to around $7 in 2010. And current homeowners like myself will continue to get the shaft. But there are rewards in the bill for being a failure.

In the meantime Pelosi and other Dems have taken a short exile to Italy.

I am afraid this will be a very sad day in the history of our country.

Schnoods, Jamaiche, Snowman for partisan attacks.

Tell you what, I'm 70% cash/metals/TIPS and thinking of increasing that percentage.

It's been a staged publcity stunt all along. They couldn't even give anyone time to read it before it just had to be signed...and then the messiah sits on it until the staging is ready.

Obama: Arrogant, radical, dishonest. Get used to it.

You guys will learn to deal with it the same way Democrats had to learn to deal with a president (with his neo-con partners in crime) who obfuscated the facts and sometimes lied to get us into a war that would turn into a quagmire (the death of 4,200 American soldiers at a cost of 2 to 3 trillion dollars), and result in the evisceration of portions of the U.S. Constitution, and the trashing of the United State's international reputation.

To top it off- the best work done during the Clinton era was to roll back welfare. With the new "stimulus bill" that is now gone. States are back to being rewarded for increased welfare rolls and there is almost no incentive to reduce caseloads as the Federal government now will pay almost all of it (through guess who).

Next on the hit parade: Nationalized health care and a tax increase. If one has no plans of ever being financially successful (top 50%)- then don't worry, this won't hurt much.

As I've said, Bush enabled Obama. Without the bungled past presidency, Obama couldn't have been elected.

And here I thought bga would defend Obama, as Obama is standing up to his principles in spite of harsh criticisms.

To be honest, the dollar amount makes me cringe. There are certain aspects of the bill that I do like, however, as I believe it helps build a 21st century infrastructure.

Why wasn't the Congress given a reasonable amount f time to read the largest hand out in US history? That the Dems voted 'yes' without having read the bill is unconscionable.

LesBolstad, make sure you have physical possession of those metals or they're worthless.

Many members of congress never bothered to read the PATRIOT act either. This isn't really all that uncommon. I'd imagine congressmen never bother to read most of the bills.

They have people that are required to read this stuff for them and provide the skinny.
