Barring another uber collapse to OSU, the Gophers will advance to play Purdue @ 2:30.
 

Gophers win 9-4. Gophers score 6 in the 6th to take the lead. Lubinsky goes 6 with Windle pitching the last 3 for the Gophers.


Gophers play Purdue @ 2:35.
 

Gophers eliminate Purdue 1-0. Will play MSU/ILL tomorrow.
 


What a day for freshman Tom Windle, threw 8 shoutout innings over two games, no walks. This kid has a chance to be a pretty high draft pick and should be our #2 next year.

Gophers had the big inning against OSU, who still looked crushed by the late night loss to illinois, featuring a pair of two run homers by Geason and Puhl. Lubinsky kept them in the game and Windle slammed the door shut. Schlagen had another throwong error on a pick off play, like the aggressiveness but don't do it if you can't make the throws close.

Crazy game against Purdue, seemed like they had a runner in scoring position in every inning. AJ drove in the Gophers lone run although we left the bases laoded with one out and it felt like that may come back to haunt us. Sexton and Soule each threw one inning and Maytas got the six out save although once again he struggled. In the 8th, PU got a leadoff single, a sac bunt, and then a single to right but Gominsky gunned him down at home in a very close play although the replay showed it was the correct call, a little payback for yesterday. A little scare with two outs in the ninth but a great win.

Now we probably get illinois tomarrow, it will be our 5th game, there 3rd so once again pitching will be a key. We haven't used Rasmussen yet and freshman DJ Snelton was our midweek starter so i would think he may go tomarrow, soule has pitched two days in a row but may be able to give a couple innings, Sexton has plenty left, and freshman Tukey hasn't gone yet either, also ryan and klabunde but both have been pretty bad this year. Maytas has a rubber arm so he should still be available, i would think windle is done for the tournament, especially with his bright future. Not sure if Oakes Could come back to go Sat night if we make it that far.

Still have to give this team credit, no matter what the regular season results, we are almost always a major player in the tournament and a team I think everyone else hates to see come BTT time.
