Chris Monter Q&A: Wisconsin Shooter Matt Thomas Makes U Campus Visit

Matt Thomas, a 6-foot-1 sophomore guard from Onalaska, is one of the Midwest’s top backcourt players in the Class of 2013. Thomas shined at this weekend’s Howard Pulley Invitational as he scored 33, 25 and 29 points in his three games. He visited the Minnesota campus Friday and is getting plenty of attention from the Gophers. GopherHole.com caught up with Thomas to learn the latest on his recruitment and expectations for the AAU season.

I actually work at a local TV station just south of Onalaska, so I've covered them a few time this season. Onalaska is a fantastic team, works as a unit and is well coached. I haven't seen enough of Matt to see him show if he has the fire to win like another local standout (Bronson Koenig), still an a great player.

I'll try to give my impressions of him in the 2011-12 season as it progresses (at least for the games I make, trying to cover 60 schools isn't as easy as it might seem, heh).
