A broken record

Interesting that the Big Ten has more total attendence than the Big East considering the Big East has 5 more teams and also includes Syracuse who are #2 in the country. Must be some lousy draws at the bottom of the conference.

Would be interesting to see a per team average for each conference.

No, it's not lousy draws, it's poor writing. When ESPN says, "For the 35th consecutive year, the Big Ten led all conferences in home attendance with 2.4 million", they are simply wrong and it's not even close.

The Big East, by far, leads in attendance. The Big Ten leads in average attendance. 12,826 is what the Big Ten had (in reg season games) and the Big East had 11,323 which placed them second.

The Big East has some NBA arenas and so you see a team like Marquette with the 11th highest attendance in all of college basketball... but at the same time, many of the schools have multiple 'home' courts, some of which are quite small... so percent of capacity becomes a more relevant figure to look at.

Nebraska was at 9,395 last year.. they will bring the Big Ten town a bit next year... but as for #2, the SEC could sneak into that spot next year.. the Big East will add TCU and their tiny crowds to the conference's calculation.

Thanks for the clarification. That certainly is poor writing.

Agree that the wording is poor. Average attendance certainly would be more clear.

I bet Nebraska averages more per game next year being that it's the first year in the conference. I think that alone will bring out more fans for the conference games anyway.
