By my count. That comes to about .521 - hard to believe many big time teams have such a poor home field record. The Gophers had a big edge in Memorial, even during the Stoll/Salem years, when they went 41-24 at home. They did much better than that under Warmath at home.

Further to my point. All in all, the Metrodome was too good for our Gophers. I won't miss the dome at all, but the team doesn't really deserve an upgrade. Not pleased at all to say that.

I wish them the dawn of a new era in the corporate stadium.

And I think they were something like 5-36 vs. ranked opponents in the dome. What a miserable place to play college football.

Ranked or not, our conference record at home was pathetic as well as on the road. This was
a real flat period of time overall for the Gophs. If it wasn't for a fairly generic nonconference
shedule throughout that period our home record would have been far worse.

The vast majority of our wins were against non conference teams that were pretty weak opponents. VERY few big, let alone good big ten wins at home. Any wonder our fans base is small?

The dome was never a home field - it was a shared location for the Twins, Vikes, tractor pulls etc - as far from a college atmosphere as I have ever seen...

Dome Record

This is what I came up with

109 Big Ten Conference home games (27 seasons)
4 games (1982-83, 1985-2007)
5 games (1984)

41 Wins 66 Loses 2 Ties .385%

Illinois 5-4-1 .550%
Indiana 8-4 .667%
Iowa 6-8 .429%
Michigan 0-12 .000%
Michigan State 3-7 .300%
Northwestern 4-5-1 .450%
Ohio State 0-11 .000%
Penn State 2-3 .400%
Purdue 7-5 .583%
Wisconsin 6-7 .462

Non Conference record at the Metrodome
46-14 .767%

overall record at dome 87-80-2 .521%

So if I get what you're saying, we could improve quite a bit if we just kicked Ohio State and Michigan out of the B10.

Yes, would have been worse if Murray State, NE Louisiana, Louisiana Monroe, Illinois State, Arkansas State, and the like hadn't been added in the late '90s and after.

By comparison, Warmath was 63-33 in Memorial, with tough non-conference competion that included Nebraska, Southern Cal, etc. And how about this: pre-war, Bierman was 45-5 at home; post-war, 22-10.
