Does anyone know? Since, ohio st is coming to the barn on super bowl sunday and will have a great chance to keep their number 1 ranking. I am curious on the last time we either played a #1 team and won or at least had the chance at beating one.

Did we play and beat cincinatti when they had kenyon martin in like 98 or 99. Not sure if they were number 1 though.
 

I believe the last time we played the #1 team at The Barn was Indiana in 1993. We lost by 11.

According to the media guide, although the vacated years don't show any of the rankings... believe the answer is Illinois... 1989. Gophers won.
 


Yes... apologies... mixed up played with won... you are correct... just counted up all games vs. No. 1, including Big Ten tournament and vacated games... 3-17 record.
