Assuming Trevor returns (big assumption IMO), when you break down our roster, even if Andre proves to be a stud and can play PG, we really need to look for a JUCO PG. Anyone have any links/leads on the best still available?

I agree the recruit should be a PG. But, Ahanmisi is the leading would be the guy right now. Not Andre. Maybe Andre gets coverted and maybe not.

From what I have read the best jocos are already taken.

no, we need the next Trevor

I can't argue that but when you look at our Guards (So SG Hollins, So PG Mav, So G Chip, Fr SG Coleman and Fr G Hollins), we could really use a more experienced player. I suppose Mav could always suprise the hell out of us but I wouldn't mind adding the next Bobby Jackson. :)

I'm all for experience but for every other occasion, just get the best players.

And Estan Tyler is one of the best MN HS point guards I have ever seen. OK he's not Khalid El-Amin. But his upside is better than Al Nolen. He's quick as hell, strong enough to get to the rim, aggressive enough to grab a few offensive boards, he hits the 3, and he does it all at warp speed. I saw him Friday night just after Hopkins and Joe Coleman, and Tyler is a better HS player than Coleman.

Johnson beat Superior Friday 70-66. The rumor is that NDSU had its choice of Tyler or Superior's point guard, Joel Lindberg. NDSU took Lindberg. Tyler out-scored him 30-6.

Tyler has committed to Mo-KC but verbal only. I think the Gophers could still get him. Siyani Chambers of Hopkins is terrific also and I heard the Gophers were looking at him. A true 1, does everything pretty well. I would be happy with either. But Tyler is incredible.

At this point it looks very doubtful that tubby and crew are going to add another guard to this class. The most likely person to get an offer would be Walter Pritchford. I could be wrong on the spelling but he was receiving interest after we lost Devoe. Walter has been described as a better shooting version of Damian Johnson, take that fwiw.

As far as Chambers is concerned, as of now he is not really being recruited by the Tubby. JohnnyGopher hit on this last week.

sunday2?
are you tyler himself, jeez
if he was so good why is he going to missouri tech

I agree that we badly need a JUCO pg, but if there is not one that is truly elite, then I just want the best possible player regardless of position. This team has far too many young guys who project as role players at best.

Here's the Juco Junction list, but it hasn't been updated since mid November: http://rivals.yahoo.com/jucojunctio...s/rank-2769;_ylt=AuZtPJotEAT5ZB4h2_G1RoJrWpB4

How can a guy with the first name God's Gift be only number 21? and why is he at a Junior College?

Jamari Traylor; a 6'7 power forward

"Traylor knows exactly what he is looking for in a school. I'm looking for a school that gets up and down, an up tempo a coach that really cares about his players on and off the court, and I'm looking playing time my freshman year"

Coach Jirsa is looking at Anthony-Hickey

5'10" and 162 as a Senior? If they are scared of Siyani Chambers size as a Junior, this would be a strange pickup.

After watching Chambers this weekend it may have less to do with size and more to do with Chambers' immaturity as to why the Gophers aren't recruiting him harder. Very disappointed with how he carried himself this past weekend. No way I could see Smith putting up with the whiny, biching, and complaining I saw from Chambers on Fri and Sat.

As far as Tyler goes, nice player but after watching him struggle on the AAU circuit last summer, I didn't get the sense he was a big10 pg.

Correction; Rivals claims that coach Jirsa is recruiting Anthony-Hickey
http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Year=2011&Sport=2&Coach=2733

Rivals seems like it is correct on some recruits;
In football here it list who Coach Miller is looking at
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?coach=477&sport=1&year=2011

Or here is the list of players that coach Jim Zebrowski
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Year=2011&Sport=1&Coach=2778

Perhaps rivals is wrong but I like to find the info out there post it and see if others confirm or refute the info presented.

You can use the drop down box that Rivals provides and select other gopher coaches and see who Rivals suggest those coaches are recruiting...

Well, killabrew,

I just call 'em like I see 'em. Why is Estan Tyler going to, well, not Missouri Tech? Jeez, coaches have never missed on a guy yet. Within St. Paul Johnson's team concept, he is the most effective high school player in Minnesota.

I'd love to see the Gophers target pure shooting guard or a small forward who can really shoot.

Really? Thats a bold claim, almost as bold as saying he is the best player in the state (which you did earlier in this thread). I'll bet you 3 years of my future earnings that he doesn't have a better college career than Coleman while playing inferior competition.
