Pregame Thoughts: Iowa 1/16/11

The lowly Iowa Hawkeyes (7-9, 0-4) will be at Williams Arena to take on the NR/#25 Minnesota Golden Gophers (13-4, 2-3) on Sunday, January 16, 2011. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:06pm CT and the game will be broadcast to a tiny television audience via the Big Ten Network. After sitting next to Boilermaker fans on Thursday, I'm hoping there are few, if any, Iowa fans at this one (except for Lois Feldman - I want her there and next to me)...............

Not much bulletin board material from the Iowa site, most of them are picking the Gophers and hoping they don't get blown out.

I expect the Gophers to win, but I hope the team thinks this will be a challenge and comes out ready to play. A loss would be very bad.

I lurk on the Iowa site on occasion. I like Coach Fran, fiery guy with an uptempo offensive scheme. He occasionally gets T'd up if he doesn't like how the refs are treating his team. Both he and his wife were kicked out of the Siena - Hofstra game for arguing with the officials. He doesn't have the athletes / players at Iowa to be successful, yet.

Not sure if her husband lets her out anymore... the MU game was just painful. We've had a ton of insanely close games over the past few years, but this one certainly is painful. Ugh.

Luckily tonight is going to be an easy victory over Iowa.
