Here's how the top 11 teams in each league are ranked based on the RPI, not conference standing. Here's how I see the three conferences stacking up when putting like teams (where they're positioned) head to head against one another. Judgments on the best team in each grouping are based on what my eyes have seen, not their RPI ranking. Thoughts & disagreements are encouraged.
#1: Duke (#1, ACC), Pitt (#2, Big East), Michigan State (#4, Big 10)
#2: North Carolina (#6, ACC), UConn (#8, Big East), Illinois (#17, Big 10)
#3: Louisville (#9, Big East), Clemson (#10, ACC), Ohio State (#22, Big 10)
#4: Wake Forest (#11, ACC), Villanova (#13, Big East), Wisconsin (#29, Big 10)
#5: Marquette (#15, Big East), Florida State (#27, ACC), Gophers (#32, Big 10)
#6: West Virginia (#18, Big East), Purdue (#33, Big 10), Virginia Tech (#36, ACC)
#7: Georgetown (#21, Big East), Miami-Florida ($43, ACC), Northwestern (#47, Big 10)

#1 -- Pitt (these 3 are really close, but I like Pitt's toughness)
#2 -- North Carolina (Heels in a toss-up over the Huskies)
#3 -- Louisville (no team in the country is hotter)
#4 -- Wake Forest (no contest here)
#5 -- Marquette (another easy call. One of nation's most enjoyable teams to watch)
#6 -- Purdue (if Hummel ever gets close to 100%, look out)
#7 -- Georgetown (though slumping, Hoyas best of this lot)
#8 -- Michigan (even though slumping, I'll take Big Blue; not sold on the 'Cuse)
#9 -- Penn State (how on God's green earth did MSU lose to that awful Maryland bunch?)
#10 -- Providence (quietly Keno has Friars in the at-large conversation)
#11 -- Notre Dame (though overrated all season, Irish clearly the best of this bunch)

Obviously, there are some flaws using the RPI. For example, anyone who really thinks Purdue is the sixth-best team in the Big 10 probably has been sniffing a little too much glue.
