You can't even make this up...we now have The Dance, NIT, College Basketball Invitational and a tourney by something called CollegeInsider.com:

It appears to be designed for smaller schools and one bid conferences. I do not think we will be making this one anytime soon.

And they talk about expanding the current field of 65...

Yet another example of why winning 20 games doesn't have anywhere near the cache it used to 10-15 years ago. Another tournament giving mediocre teams a chance to play an extra game or two, as well as coaches the opportunity to "pad" their resume? How could any college president or athletic director justify firing a coach that has "CollegeInsider.com Tournament participant" on his resume?

The NCAA & NIT are enough. Just under 100 postseason teams is sufficient. The NIT still serves a purpose, especially for up-and-coming teams who can use it as a springboard. But these other tournaments are just plain silly.
