Since Tiller has retired, I keep hearing the media talk about how Joe Tiller is the one who is responsible for bringing the spread offense to the Big Ten, etc, etc. What about Jim Wacker?! Give the man his props! His offense was more of a run-n-shoot than today's spread, but IIRC Purdue's offense was designed more in that manner back in '97 when Tiller hired.

Joe Tiller had quite the run at Purdue over the last decade. I think when the media says he introduced the spread it has to do with how successful it was. While in the past I have been quite critical of Coach Tiller I was very happy to see he distroy IU in his last game 62-10. Some direct quotes from the ESPN crew were "the highlight of IU's game was stepping off the bus" and "this is like a video game."
