Cobbs drained six three-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points. The only thing he didn't finish was a thunderous slam-dunk attempt after going vertical over a St. Bernard defender.

"Almost," he said with a braces-laden smile.

More impressive was that Cobbs, who added seven rebounds, five assists and four steals, rarely seemed to force the action and continually got his teammates involved. Six other Knights scored as Brandon Bibbins added 11 points while Michael Panaggio and Richard Solomon each added eight.

"He's just unpredictable," St. Bernard coach Mark Fancher said of Cobbs. "He's added the dimension of being a great passer to his game. He's got a pull-up game, a mid-range game. He's got the complete package.

"He keeps everybody involved and it makes it harder to guard him."

Bishop Montgomery coach Doug Mitchell said Cobbs is a much more consistent player in his senior year.

"He's just more mature now," Mitchell said. "He knows when to shoot, when he should pass. He's an experienced player and the game's become easier for him."

Wasn't a previous criticism of him that he shot too much? If this is the case, it's great news for us!

I think Cobbs will push up near the Top 100 range after his excellent play this season.
