Refs out to get the BADgers

Yea if only all Badger games had fair and balanced refereeing like the usual Kohl Center game

To be fair, I tend to place some blame on officials after close loses, but in all reality there are bad calls in every game, and usually it evens out. Sure you can go back to a couple calls, but your ignoring the calls that went your way.

No doubt, the fix is in

It's a full-blown conspiracy, damnit!!!

Forget about Krabby elbowing the living hell out of Gatens, resulting in 2 points on that trip as opposed to a TO/offensive foul. It's all about the non-call on the layup.

One of my old coaches always said, the breaks always even themselves out and I've always firmly believed that.

Let it go, Bucky...

If I were the ref I wouldn't have called a foul either. He was clearly clean on the ball, in fact, he had the top of the ball. Taylor fell hard to the ground because the force from having the ball blocked so hard caught him off guard and he wasn't braced for it. In real time it looked clean to me. Replay showed that there was follow through after the blocked shot where the Iowa players arm connected with the Wisconsin players head. Technically that could have been called but 90% of refs will let that go if the contact on the ball is so obviously clean and there is no body to body contact (I mean core body not limbs on the follow through of the block). At the heart of it, the Iowa player did not get an unfair advantage out of body contact which allowed him to block the shot.

They're headed to Illinois next

I don't see them coming out of Illinois with a win on Saturday. :)

I thought Bo was going to blow-up after that play. It was most entertaining!

Gotta' admit

Am enjoying the fact that the Badgers, unlike most of the last 10 years, are far from a cinch for the NCAA Tournament. They're right there in the quagmire with the rest of us (except for MSU, Iowa and Indiana), in need of quality wins to secure a bid.

The refs were clearly out to get Bo, giving him a technical for no reason:

<i>"I didn't jump up, I didn't get out of the box, I didn't do anything," Ryan said. "I just signaled to my coaches and pointed back, saying, 'Can you believe that he wasn't fouled?' But I'll go to bat for a player in that situation anytime. He makes a great steal. We don't get to the line."</i>

I am willing to be corrected if someone DVRed the game and has the advantage of a second viewing, but in real time, it looked like Bo was about five feet onto the court, running along the edge of the floor as the ball was being pushed back toward the other end by Iowa. If memory is serving correctly, he was no where near in the box, and it was obvious he wasn't yelling to his coaches. If he was, he was doing it while looking at the action on the court.

Tonight the Gophers are up 2 with two minutes to go in the game. Westbrook steals the ball, goes in for a layup and gets hit the exact way that Taylor did last night. No foul is called and Tubby gets a technical. I am sure you all would think it was a great call. The next play Nolen goes to the basket, lays one of the glass and it is blocked by a Boilermaker. No goaltending is called. I am sure you all will agree with that call as well.

Just to be clear, neither of those calls cost the Badgers either game. Both games should have been won despite those two calls.

It is humorous to listen to Gophers fans comment on other teams fans talk about the officiating, considering that there has never been a foul committed by a Gopher in Williams Arena that was a correct call according to the 12,000 that are there most nights.

On the road,

you need to be 10 points better than the home team or you will lose.

The correct call was made on that incredible block. I love the Krabbenhoft elbow that almost knocked Gatens tooth out yet he ends up with the foul, that was a horrible call. I've watched the goaltender/block play from last week a bunch of times and I still can't tell if it was good or not, I saw some Badger fan said he watched it in super slow motion and he thought it was goaltending, well if you have to slow it down that much to tell, then it was a pretty close play and in real speed almost impossible to tell, hardly the obvious call so many Badger fans are crying about.

Go to any Big Ten or college game and all crowds complain on almost every foul against there team, No doubt Gopher fans can bitch with the best of them and it does get annoying, but the reason so many find this Badger meltdown so funny is because of the huge advantage they have had at Kohl center over the last 5-7 years and every team has fallen victim to it many times so it is funny to see the Badger Nation crying so much now.

I've also lost some respect for Bo over the past few games. I still think he is an amazing coach but his whining during and after the past two games is pretty sad.
