ESPN's Doug Gottlieb watched Minnesota beat Wisconsin in overtime last week and he saw significance in the Gophers' victory.

"Make a note of this win," Gottlieb said in his ESPN Insider blog. "Wisconsin's talent level might continue to slide, as the Minnesota kids will now stay in-state and play for Tubby (Smith), while Wisconsin as a state is still a mixed bag, as Michigan State has Milwaukee-raised Korie Lucious. No one will argue with Bo Ryan's ability to coach, but the sledding became much tougher in the normal recruiting hot spots since Tubby landed at Minnesota."
