Trying to remember how exactly a Big Ten champ is crowned.

Past Big Ten Champions... (according to Wikipedia)

2001 Illinois, Michigan State
2002 Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio State
2003 Wisconsin
2004 Illinois
2005 Illinois
2006 Ohio State
2007 Ohio State
2008 Wisconsin​

Why the 4-way and 2-way ties? Straight-up conference record? No tie-breaking?

What has changed, if anything, since the Big Ten tourney was added?
 

Big Ten champ determined by reg. season record. If 5 way tie, 5 co champions.

Automatic bid to NCAA tournament goes to Big Ten Tournament Champ.

If we ever do have a five or six way tie, this is the most likely year:

Michigan State
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Purdue
Michigan
Illinois

Although, the way Sparty is playing, it appears they will be the team at the top.
