on the Sports Huddle today stated that if Tim Brewster had been the head coach at the time he was being recruited, he would have been a Gopher!

That is interesting. I suppose that he is a players' coach.

James Lauranites mom said the thing so nobody should care what Mason thinks as he didn't try to recruit here.

If Larry was from Shaker Heights, Glen would have been all over recruiting him. But he's not so recruiting him wouldn't have been an option, unless he could squeeze him into his 2 trips to Minnesota in the offseason.

Well, Larry Jr. sure knows what to say now. Would it have made any difference? Larry Sr. had a beef with the U of M (not Mason) and I recall him saying that he would never allow his kid to play for the University of Minnesota. Although, I do recall a few years later that he was okay with the younger Fitz going to the U, especially when he wasn't worthy of a major DI offer.

One thing you have to give Brewster credit for, he has done a much better job of bringing in Alums and Celebs (larry Fitz, Mike Shannahan, ect) to hype his program.

He had a beef with the Mckinley Boston firing and how everything was handled. Enough time and personnel changes have occurred that it's all water under the bridge.

I remember Mason talking about the Lauranites recruitment while he was doing tv commentary for the Minn/Ohio St game a few years ago. He said he thought Lauranites all wrapped up and then Ohio State came to town. His quote was something like, "Then Tressel came to town, oh well, what are you gonna do".
It was a very Homer Simpson type quote by someone who just accepted his fate.
I don't remember Mr's Lauranties talking about it, what did she say?
