I couldn't believe that there is a actually a fair and balanced news anchor over there. These videos I saw of him were not with the usually fox twist. Please somone from the right tell me I'm wrong!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhtlhl5K-pQ This was my favorite video, the public option was made to seem like a government take over by so many lobbyists for the insurance companies, it was nice to see someone talk about what it really would of been.
I think being against the public option is like being against government student loans. Are they a government take over of Universitys? No they are just set up for people like me who can't pay for college without buying into student loans. The rich kids who don't need them ARE NOT FORCE TO TAKE THEM! Just like the public option.

What you need to realize is that Fox News has essentially two separate categories to its programming: News and Opinion. I believe the news to be top notch, relatively neutral programming. That would be the likes of Shep Smith, Bret Baier, etc. I think Bret Baier is my favorite, but I do agree that Shep Smith is solid.

People often say Fox News is slanted because of O'Reilly, Hannity, et. al. but fail to realize the difference between the news and opinion parts of the channel.

Shep was great during the Katrina coverage. Everytime they cut over to him they would call him a different name..Shep-o, Sheparino, Sheparooski, it was actually quite humorous.

That's exactly right. And Fox makes no bones about the fact that these guys are commentators- not news anchors. What bothers me is when the networks and cable outlets sneak in commentary under the guise of reporting the news. CNN puts up Anderson Cooper "360" as though he is reporting the news from all sides. Yet he's more of a liberal commentator- not to the degree of Hannity but he's a commentator. Olbermann is an insane liberal version of Hannity on steroids but at least no one thinks he is a news guy and no one watches him either.

Fox's version of fair & balanced news is discussing a health care reform poll showing a 55/45 split and then interviewing four regular folks who are all opposed to it.

Sigh. It's commentary. I assume you are not a regular Fox viewer. They have the opposition on nearly every show and every night.

BTW - here's CNNs slightly sneakier way of doing it. The bring in the weakest "Republican" they can find, and call him a Republican strategist and put him on the panel every night. Let's call that person Ed Rollins. He's like calling Dick Morris a Democrat (because he once was one). It's a great way to make the opposition's argument look tepid. There is open biased commentary (Fox) and there's deceptive biased "news" (CNN).

This was during their daytime news coverage. I believe it was Megyn Kelly, who is not doing commentary.

Edit: It even shows on foxnews.com: "America Live w/ Megyn Kelly Fair & Balanced News of the Day"

If Megyn Kelly is doing the news and they are calling it that- I think that's a Fox error. They should call it "Fair and Balanced Commentary on the Day's News." (if indeed they bring an opposition view on then it's fair and it's somewhat balanced)

She's a strong conservative with a view and she expresses it on her appearances on OReilly. Personally, I think everyone has a bias. Everyone. However, soemone has to do the news. When the line is crossed into commentary it ought to be noted. I like when a news show has a commentary section where they admit to the commentary. Keep the news the news and commentary separate.
